It isn’t that I need you

But I do want you.

I don’t need you to show me who I am

But I want to find out who I am when I’m with you.

I don’t need you to prove to me I am loveable

But I want to see how much we can love each other.

I don’t need you to complete me

But I want to share my whole self with you.

I don’t need you to fix my brokenness

But I want you to hold me in my tenderness.

I don’t need you to make it to OK

But I want you in a million different ways.

I don’t need your touch

But I want to feel our bodies intertwined.

I don’t need you to cherish me

But I want to cherish every inch of our togetherness.

I don’t need you for my happiness

But I want to smile with you by my side.

I don’t need you to be anything

But I want you to be everything you already are to me.

I don’t need you to tell me I’m beautiful

But I want to hear those words like I’ve never heard them before.

I don’t need you to live my life

But I want to live knowing I have spent my days with you.

It isn’t that I need you

I’ve just never wanted you more.
