Be with someone who is interested in you; who wants to know every insignificant detail about you, your life, your child’s life and the life you want someday.
Be with someone who wants to read every word you write and who wants to hear every note of your favorite song.
Be with someone who wants to watch every scene of your favorite movie.
Be with someone who wants to find every scar on your body and learn where each came from.
Be with someone who wants to know your favorite brand of toothpaste and learns your order at your favorite restaurants.
Be with someone who wants to know which quotes resonate deep inside of your bones when you hear them.
Be with someone who knows the difference between attraction and interest. Love and lust. Healthy and toxic.
Find that one person who wants to learn every aspect of who you are and who your going to be and accepts both.
Be with someone who remembers your favorite foods, drinks and places to go.
Be with someone who knows you hate meatloaf so avoids cooking them for your sake; or who knows you hate warm beverages so always has ice for you.
Be with someone who wants you to follow your dreams and promotes your education and goals; whose career doesn’t triumph yours. Someone who treats the janitor the same way he would the CEO of a company. Who cheers you on when you get a big promotion at work.
Be with someone who your friends and cousins admire as much as you do.
Be with someone who your mom loves as much as you do.
Be with someone who loves you for you and doesn’t plan on letting you go anywhere anytime soon. Someone who CHOOSES you.
Be with someone who enjoys going out, engaging in outdoor adventures and travels; but also can also be fine 6 out of 7 days relaxing inside while it’s raining, ordering takeout and watching movies all night.
Be with someone who adores you as much as Johnny loved baby in Dirty Dancing; be happy with someone as much as Justice and Lucky were in Poetic Justice; be so in love with someone that you write poems about him like Nina did with Darius in Love Jones.
Be with someone who makes you happy and adores you endlessly that you can’t help but smile even on the hardest days.
Be with someone who takes care of your child/children like they are his/her own.
Be with someone who wants to be with you and only you. Who doesn’t entertain anyone else. Who chooses honesty and loyalty above all.
Be with someone who loves every little thing about you; especially the parts you hate.
Be with someone who wants to go on little dates where you get all done up and who you still gets butterflies for like it’s the first time, every time.
Be with someone who will be there when the tears don’t stop falling, when life gets too much to handle.
Be with someone who empathizes and provides a shoulder to cry on.
Be with someone who will be loyal to you and only you.
Be with someone who doesn’t break your heart, who doesn’t manipulate you, who doesn’t lie about you being the end all be all woman and then leaves you time and time again.
Be with someone who never chooses to block you/dismiss you from there life as a form of punishment.
Be with someone who you know in your heart is the one; even if it scares you to death.
Be with someone who wants the best for you.
Be with someone who isn’t afraid to love you, who you know will fight and stay through the hard times.
Be with someone who is good for your mental health.
Be with someone you can’t go on throughout the day without checking in on; someone who you can’t seem to live without.
That’s the thing about being with someone; experiencing the love and connection you feel between the two of you. Be with someone who doesn’t choose to let that connection be drowned out by their own insecurities, jealousy or manipulative tendencies.
Because,
The sparks from your first kiss…
The first time you held him/her tight…
The first time you wondered if he or she felt the same about you…
are the feelings we confuse with lust.
To remain and hold space for that someone and love them means to engage into a relationship, which isn’t an automatic guarantee you have him/her.
You have to continue to choose them over and over again; and if they don’t choose you. Fine someone who will
